IT'S FLASH'S 18th BIRTHDAY! LET'S CELEBRATE!

ABOUT US!

MISSION STATEMENT
The Filipino League at Seton Hall (FLASH) is a minority student organization whose main objective is to educate, to be aware, and to share with others our Filipino culture and heritage. FLASH began roughly ten years ago. But it was five years ago that FLASH had undergone a reconstruction. In 1998, Tagalog class, a Filipino language course, was introduced as a credited course. In the same year, FLASH celebrated their First Barrio Fiesta, a cultural show that is now held annually. In these past four years, membership has grown and our bond with each other is at its strongest.

GIVING BACK
FLASH is dedicated to serving those in need both in the United States and back in the Philippines. Through the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) at Seton Hall, FLASH volunteers in the annual SHU 500. We have also made monetary, clothing, and food donations to this and other organizations, including Gawad Kalinga and Filipino organizations dedicated to improving lives in the Philippines, through building communities. We hope our volunteer efforts will increase and stress the importance of giving back to the community, as we continue to do so in the years to come.

FIND, Inc.
(
Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue, Inc. )
FLASH is extensively involved with the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue, now known as FIND Incorporated. FIND Inc. is one of the largest Filipino organizations in the nation, with seven districts encompassing dozens of universities and colleges along the U.S. and Canadian east coast. Through the annual Fall dialogues and Spring conferences, FIND Inc. continues to grow, educate, and unite Filipino youths through academic, social, and cultural programming.

OTHER PROGRAMS
FLASH has also co-sponsored, participated, and performed in many Filipino, Asian, and other cultural shows within Seton Hall and other organizations throughout the NY-NJ area.

The Melenie Hong & Patrick Mangosing Annual Award
This award was established in the Spring 2005 semester, after the passing of our dear friends, Melenie (a freshman at Seton Hall) and Patrick (a freshman at William Patterson University). Although we only knew Melenie for a short time, nonetheless, they left a lasting impression in our lives and in our hearts. This award is in honor of Melenie and Patrick, and as a symbol of the lives they lived.
